African Lotus Productions is a South African Film and Television Production Company with a strong work ethic that makes it committed to conceptualising, creating and delivering world-class products that are in line with the company motto of ‘growing good thru media’

Suda Sing and Jayan Moodley both share a vision and a passion for the factual and spiritual genres. Together, they have collectively completed over 50 television productions, corporate DVD’s and the feature film White Gold. In 2016 APLS co-produced ‘Keeping Up With The Kandasamys” which went on to become S.A’s biggest film in 2017. KUWTK was also Directed/Co-written by Jayan Moodley. The many years they have spent in the industry have given them a wide range of experience.

African Lotus Productions was born through the passion that they share – a passion to not simply let sensational media rule our screens and minds – but to open our consciousness and experience our divinity.

They are fortunate to have a dynamic team that blends in with their vision.

Meet the team

Jayan Moodley - Producer/Director

Jayan Moodley started her career as an educator with a National Higher Diploma in Education. She thereafter completed her BSc degree majoring in Mathematics and Computer Science. But she soon realized that her passion lay in the creative arts and she embarked on this new journey in 2005. Her dream came true when she produced, and wrote the screenplay for the movie ‘White Gold’. Jayan has been involved in numerous documentaries and takes a keen interest in youth development programmes, having been an educator for kids aged 12-18. She is currently the producer of the Hindu magazine programme on SABC 3 Sadhana’ which is into its seventh season. Jayan directed and co-wrote the highly successful ‘Keeping up with the Kandasamys’ in 2016. She also co-directed ‘The Dance’ - a short film as part of the Female Filmmaker slate by the NFVF with Quizzical Pictures.

Suda Sing - Director/Writer

The multi-talented Sideshwar Sing is co-director of African Lotus Productions. As the cinematographer in the feature White Gold, his eye for detail and his quest for cinematographic perfection had warmed the hearts of even the most unrelenting critics. He has over ten years’ experience in the production world, making his production debut in the Cape Town based Di-Rosen Productions house. Suda has scripted and directed at least 17 documentaries. He is currently the director of the Hindu magazine programme on SABC 3 ‘Sadhana’.

Indhrannie Pillay - Production Manager/ Script Writer/ Researcher

Indhrannie Pillay is a journalism graduate who has worked in print, online and television production. She has years of experience and wealth of knowledge in research, development and script writing. She joined the team in 2012 as production coordinator and has quickly worked her way up to Production Manager. Her attention to detail and creative thinking is a valuable asset to the team.

Bright Gigaba Senior Editor/ Cameraman

Bright Gigaba holds a National Diploma in Filmmaking and Broadcasting. He is multi-skilled on camera and in edit. Over the years he has been on various sets, including music videos and documentaries. He also directed the SATMA awards. Bright’s passion lies in editing and graphic design which brings his creativity to life. He is the senior editor at African Lotus Productions.

Sizwe Mblembelele - Cameraman/Sound Engineer

Sizwe hails from humble beginnings in the Eastern Cape and has been a part of the African Lotus family since 2009 as a production assistant. Without any formal training in film and television, Sizwe is now an accomplished cameraperson and sound engineer. He is the main creative behind the camera for African Lotus Productions.

Davashni Rajoo - Editor/Cameraman

Davashni Rajoo joined African Lotus Productions as an intern in 2013 and is now an integral part of the production team. From being behind the camera, to conceptualising inserts and corporate promos and finally taking the process to post production, Davashni has proved herself as a multi-skilled individual with many exciting years ahead in the production industry. She scripted and directed a youth film maker project in 2015 and has gone on to direct two more youth films in 2016.

Alicia Naidoo - Intern

Alicia Naidoo is a final year journalism student majoring in Broadcast. She joined African Lotus Productions in July 2018 to complete her internship program. Since joining the team she has gained valuable insight into the various aspects production – with a key focus on editing.
